Topic Tour of Marine Facility – Vane Brothers

Vane Brothers is a premier marine transportation provider that operates approx. 50 tugboats and 80 barges on the U.S. East and West Coasts, as well as in the Caribbean, the Gulf of Mexico, and the Great Lakes region of the U.S. and Canada. We are committed to developing the safest possible marine transportation system achievable, with emphasis on preventing injury, loss of life, and damage to the marine environment and property. We continually strive to conduct operations with zero spills and zero incidents.

Vane Brothers’ primary business is ship bunkering, which means the company’s tugs and barges basically serve as a “floating gas station” for vessels in port. But the company also has two other divisions: Vane Brothers Marine Safety and Services, which inspects, repairs and installs safety equipment such as lifeboats, life rafts and fire suppression equipment on vessels for Vane Brothers, other commercial maritime operations, and recreational boaters; and Vane Launch, which delivers premium marine lubricants, marine gas oil, and other critical supplies to ships.

Headquartered on a beautiful campus in the Fairfield section of Baltimore, the family-owned company is celebrating its 125th anniversary this year.
