Calling all “chicken-neckers”…it is time to do some trout-line crabbing!

Join the camaraderie and fun as we set out on the Chesapeake ASSP trout-line crabbing adventure. Crabbing teams will be running the line looking for big Jimmy’s. The looker watches the line as it moves to the surface and calls out to the crabber when there is a “crab on.” The crabber quickly uses a long-handled wire net to scoop the crabs up into a basket. This must be done before the crab realizes they are out of the water and drop off. The line then gently sinks back into the water to attract the next crab. We will run the line several times. Trout-line crabbing is considered one of the most productive ways to catch blue crabs in the Chesapeake Bay and is a lot of fun.

WHEN: September 30^th, 2026 – Wednesday @ 05:30 hrs

This will be a professionally run charter led by Captain Brandon of “Chasin Tail Charters”. This will be an early morning outing 5:30 AM. to 12:30 PM and the Charter departs from Kentmorr Marina in Stevensville, Maryland. Plan to arrive prior to 5:30 AM.

Charter will supply all lines, bait, tackle, ice for catch and all required licenses. The best part of the trip will be enjoying a crab feast and special fixings on the Chesapeake Bay.

You should bring your drinks, ice, jacket, cooler, camera, sunscreen, hat and sunglasses.

Cancellation policy: Weather Cancellations. Your safety is our main concern; Chasin Tail Charters monitors all marine weather and local forecasts. If the weather conditions are safe for fishing (determined by the Captain), there is no refund whatsoever. If you fail to make the boat on the stated time, there is no refund.

Limited registration: Members and their guests must register and pay online to guarantee your spot. Capacity will be limited to fifteen.
